The year is off to a great start musically speaking. Madlib's Sound Ancestor release has been on repeat since it dropped. A collaborative work with UK based Four Tet and Madlib, the record is jazz, sample chops, and lovely electronic sound scapes drawing from a wide span on influences. "Road Of The Lonely Ones"is an ear worm featuring a sample by the Ethics track "Lost In a Lonely World". We are looking forward to stocking the release when it's not sold out but recommend you grab a copy wherever you can. File under "modern classic".
“A few months ago I completed work on an album with my friend Madlib that we’d been making for the last few years. He is always making loads of music in all sorts of styles and I was listening to some of his new beats and studio sessions when I had the idea that it would be great to hear some of these ideas made into a Madlib solo album. Not made into beats for vocalists to use but instead arranged into tracks that could all flow together in an album designed to be listened to start to finish. I put this concept to him when we were hanging out eating some nice food one day and we decided to work on this together with him sending me tracks, loops, ideas and experiments that I would arrange, edit, manipulate and combine. I would love to write a review about the bag, but I haven’t received it yet…It shipped on November 8th and sat for a week in Miami. By the time it was on the move again, a postal strike started and it is still ongoing. The customer service link on the shipping notice message from Tucker-Bloom does not work and no one has responded to a message sent directly to them on November 15. Today is a week later, November 22!
