Danced Til Midnight is the brainchild of DJ, producer and musician Andy Anderson. Since 2015 the band has been releasing modern funk tracks and collaborating with a range of artists established and new, including Tall Black Guy, The Revenge and Egyptian Lover. They return to 2020 with the Real Love EP. The release combines that uncut funk with a pair of deep house groovers in the form of remixes of the title track. Fusing the funk band aesthetic of the original versions with the reworks from two vibrant and innovative house producers makes for a heady mix.

Side A carries the original funk renditions by Danced Til Midnight. Real Love combines afrobeat-inspired rhythms with soulful vocals and a Sun Ra- like soundscape. The second cut, Top Shelf Liquor, continues the psychedelia-infused excursions this time underpinned by a P-Funk groove, jazzy sax riffing and a lyrical commentary delivered with soul power.

The flipside contains the house re-visions of the title track.

Kaytronik’s Hornzy Dub delivers a jackin’ and deep interpretation of the track; layering Chicago House-inflected beats and saucy sax reminiscent of Cajmere with the supremely soulful vocals whilst setting these elements against a brooding, sultry soundscape. This remix is full of the Baltimore flavour and signature bounce we have come to expect from Kaytronik.

Byron The Aquarius’ Remix is a jazzy, deep house rendition of the track. Underpinned by a heavy house beat with a hard 4 to the floor kick, the combination of hypnotic pads, wandering sax and fleet-footed percussion make this a tune for both the rapturous dancefloor and sophisticated party goers alike. The chopped up vocal stabs also give this mix the feel of house music from the dawn of the Balearic explosion.

UK label Thylacine Sounds is the brainchild of Danced Til Midnight producer and DJAndy Anderson. Since 2015 Thylacine Sounds has been bringing together elements of disco, funk, hip hop, and house, with their approach to music spirit-channelling of the likes Francis Grasso and Ron Hardy. Thylacine Sounds has been home to releases by the hip hop godfather The Egyptian Lover, disco stalwarts Faze Action, house music figures The Revenge and Kenny Summit and renowned hip hop beatsmith Tall Black Guy.

To date Thylacine Sounds’ releases have been picked up by house music labels such asDefected and Ibiza Global Radio, featuring on both their Ibiza 2016 compilations.

The label’s releases have been supported by a range of influential figures across the history of dance music - including Robert Owens, Graeme Park, Sam Divine, Tensnake, Severino and DJ Scratch-D of Dynamix II, whilst also garnering favourable reviews in Mixmag and DJMag.
