Friend of the brand, Tee Cardaci, is a heavy record guy located in Brazil. Tee is the right kind of record guy, someone looking for the music and not just a pay day. That love of the music plays out in interesting ways, and his latest project, Vento Leve (light wind) certainly illustrates that.
"In 1989, a friend of mine's father and a buddy were sailing along the northeastern coast of Brazil, stopping at small uninhabited islands along the way to snorkel, fish and explore. On one particular island, in a secluded cove they found an abandoned sailboat. Looking inside the boat, they discovered among some assorted personal items, a large bail of high grade weed wrapped up in plastic and a cassette tape lodged inside of a small boom box labeled "Vento Leve". After rolling one up, they explored the tiny island but found no signs of life. Amongst the other items found on the boat, tacked to the wall of the cramped sleeping quarters, was a Polaroid of two bearded buddies that could have passed for a Brazilian Seals & Crofts.
Who were these two? Small time smugglers looking to set up a drop point on the island? Clandestine lovers looking to escape society on a new island home? Recently, while helping my friend help his father move house, we came across the photo and the cassette stashed away in a box in a closet. We hooked up his old tape deck and, amazingly, it still played perfectly. While no one knows what happened to the stoner castaways, I do know one thing... if I had to be stranded on a deserted island with only a bail of grass and this tape, I think I might be OK with that." - Tee Cardaci
