Willie Mitchell Dies at 81

Today acclaimed Hi records producer, Royal Studio’s owner, and Memphis legend Willie Mitchell died at the age of 81. Although passed, the warm sound of his guiding hand, and his contribution to music will live on. Mitchell worked on many Al Green hits, including “I’m Still in Love With You”, and “Love and Happiness”, as well as working with Green on his 2003 release “I Can’t Stop”. He also partnered with Ann Peebles on “I Can’t Stand The Rain”, and is credited with a number of solo records including, “Groovin” sampled here by RZA for GZA “Liquid Swords”. May he rest in peace, and his records continue to spin.- THE BAG MESSENGER.
